I’ve got a leaky differential and had wanted to change my gearing from a3:42 to a 3:90. What should be included in the gear swap on a 2003 Z06 with 33,000 miles. The differential should be on good condition and has been maintained well. Also are any of the gear manufacturers preferred of others?
Are you planning to attempt the gear change yourself? My recommendation would be to pay the extra coin to have some of the well known Corvette drivetrain shops do the work for you. Corvette diffs are unique and require a handful of special tools and processes to rebuild properly. RPM Transmissions would be my #1 stop because you'll get an entirely refurbished diff with as mild to wild of a setup as you want (and gearing choice) as long as you have a core to swap with them. If you'd like to keep your current diff and have it reworked (which will be cheaper), East Coast Supercharging is another great resource for drivetrain work. They're a forum vendor.
If you're looking to purchase components individually and source the work locally to you, either of the two vendors I mentioned above can provide you with top notch parts.
