Online people seem to say you only need to swap it. I've done so without seeming ill effect, more than once (long story, hah, but suffice it to say that it wasn't the problem). I have had one shop, ostensibly a corvette specialist, tell me they need to be recalibrated, and without that the two circuits might read a couple percent off, as verified with a tech2. I'm not certain that reading a couple percent off is an issue.
