Default Rear Main Seal

Man I'm having a hell of a time getting the read main seal plate off the engine. I have tilted to engine back and still cannot get to the bellhousing bolts and loosen. Any advise on getting the seal plate off without removing the bellhousing? A write up would be great.
Thanks

bellhousing has to come off, I use long extensions and swivel sockets to get to some of the bolts... you can also lower the engine via the front cradle if all else fails

This morning I'm going to loosen the engine mounts and tilt the engine as far back as possible. I have no way to lower the cradle so we'll see what happens.

Ahhhhhhh, I got the bellhousing off. Loosening the Motor mounts was the trick. I tilted the engine as far back as possible and it nearly fell on me. I found the oil leak where the seal housing meets the oil pan. The hard part is over.

Pain for sure, we used a length of rubber hose to start those really fun to get at bellhousing bolts, worked great.

Yes, I had seen that comment before and already got a rubber hose for that job.
