jumpstarting close to dead car
a) IS it safe to jump start the car with an "external" battery jump starter (as opposed to another car?) (and can you let me know if you personally have done that before?)
This is what I am using: https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/m...-0112065p.html
b) If I understand things correctly - I *dont* hook up -ve to -ve battery terminals (my old car that was fine) - but rather - -ve terminal on battery jump starter to a metal part in the corvette
c) Also - is this a "lead acid" battery? (no idea how to tell). just because this thing I just bought says ONLY to use it on 'lead acid' batteries...
as an aside, can I use a battery charger like this?
d) https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/n...1927p.html#srp
anything else I should know?
just really frustrating... had this car only for a few weeks, and now a bunch of problems sprung up, first abs/traction/handling light went on, then several days later, all the gauges went wonky, then this morning, I found out the battery was dead (or seems dead, just a faint flickering glow on the 'security' tab, & car doesn't start)........................

a) actually posted this before I noticed you had a reply (don't know if it was before/after I posted this)
b) this is actually a different topic in terms of jump starting tools... one was the noco (which I was asking about, but found out the cords are too short to find a ground, and apparently they don't make "longer" noco booster cables, just literally 5 inches apart maximum)... so got the 'massive' jump starter that I was asking about (& posted a link to it).
Reason I am trying to make sure this is done correctly, is because it's my first corvette, spent a lot of money on it - and want to make sure things are done right. Didn't realize it can be a bit of a finicky car (I've had other cars that I've jumpstarted/etc no issue - but didn't realize this one has a bunch of dos & don'ts, so want to make sure everyhting is done correctly - especially when reading other posts first here about people "frying" their electronics in the car - makes me a bit paranoid and wanting to do things right).
thanks.

The electronics sometimes play games and go funky with low battery voltage, not when applying any external voltage to the system for charging or jumping, unless you greatly exceed the normal capacity of the system. When the voltage is restored to normal, all of those quirks resolve and disappear.
Stop worrying so much.

Anyways, using a trickle charger - turning the vehicle to 'on' (not actually starting) - it seems everything is starting to look normal. So maybe I will still need to get a new battery/see if there is any drain on/make sure the charging system is okay/etc. I'll wait tomorrow for that.
