Default Iron block C5

This is more of a what if question, my LS1 is just fine.

Thinking of getting a Scoggin Dickey 6.2 short block made from 6.0 gen 4 iron block, has crank, rods, pistons.

24 tooth reluctor ring.

The idea is get it, then heads and everything needed and carb intake, run it on my 1965 C10 short bed pickup.

But, what if this was put in a C5 with LS3 intake?

I know it weighs more, but for street and freeway driving would it make a huge difference?

Maybe put in C5, then LS1 gets new home in old pickup.

Most likely I would just put the new engine in truck, 396 big block burns oil and has stinky exhaust.

But it might be a nice power upgrade over stock LS1.

Does iron block really mess up the way a C5 drives?

Well the C5 had 51/49 front/rear weight distribution.

What youre talking about is adding an extra 80lbs to the front and that would make it closer to 3240lbs total and possibly shift the car towards 52/48 weight balance.

If I ever decided to mod my car, I'd actually probably go the other way to get it closer to neutral weight balance. Ie. Relocating battery to the trunk and shaving weight on the front by replacing the heavy pop-up headlights with fixed and some other things.
