not that I know of, just makes things more difficult lol... I have an lsa crank that I am going to use and I figured I would need a new clutch anyway so not a big deal I guess... the zr1 crank is 9 bolt and also has a longer snout so it will need to be machined or use a spacer to make it work... due to the lightweight rotating assembly used in the zr1 expect to spend quite a bit to get it balanced if you use an aftermarket steel rod/forged piston, for that reason it may not be worth it in my opinion
I'm looking at aftermarket forged units. Some readily have either pattern, reluctor, long or short nose and wet or dry sump setups, as well as 6 or 8 bolt pattern. I figure if there is a benefit to 8 I would do it, but if not then there is no need for the expense.
In my head, at a pretty steadily predicted 700rw, I am trying to decide between keeping my LS6 crank in an LS2 block or stepping up to either a Dart Chinese billet ccw (machine work needed to block) or all the way to the callies Magnum ccw. These impact the budget greatly.
