Default Gas gauge question

I have not had a problem with my gas gauge in several years on my 97 coupe since I found Techron, amazing stuff. So this year I got my car out of storage in mid April but didn’t put it on the road till June 6 due to a really cold, rainy, crappy spring here in Michigan. I put the battery tender on it once but it sat for a month before putting it on the road without the tender. The second time I drove it at about 50 miles into a 60 mile drive I lost my gas gauge. I didn’t check the codes or battery voltage but I put the tender on it and it took several hours for the tender to charge the battery so I assume the battery was down on voltage. The second time I started the car after charging the battery the gas gauge corrected itself and has been fine since. I have read here in the forums that low voltage can cause DIC gremlins to surface, does it seem reasonable that low voltage would cause my gas gauge to malfunction? Thanks for your input.

Low voltage can do strange things in a C5. Why don't you have the battery properly charged and checked. They do it free at most auto parts stores. Most tenders don't do a good job recharging an already low battery.

Once in a while, I loose my gas gage also. It always comes back. Dont sweat it. Now if it stays gone,...thats another story. I always reset my trip meter when I fill up anyway. I like to say......" Its just a C5 thing ". ..

A low charged battery will cause manny warnings and messages to pop up on a C5. My gas gauage dropped to empty to 2 times in 5 years of ownership. The first time it happened was months after had the car. I bought some techron and it fixed the gauge. The second time was a few weeks ago. As I was driving the gauge dropped to zero. Had a fresh tank of gas to. I turned the car off for a few minutes then started it back up and it was reading corectly. Strange things happe sometimes!

Thanks for all the replies. I have had three messages on the dic in recent years , the first one the car sat for a while before putting it away, the second my battery went bad and the third this year after sitting a while. I think I see a pattern. Moral to the story is if it sits put the tender on it. Also I’m a believer in Techron! Thanks again.
