I am replacing the bushings on my C5 with the red prothane bushings and do not have enough grease. What substitute grease can I use from the local parts house to make sure they don,t squeak. Thx
The green heavy duty grease will probably do okay. I imagine most any good marine grease will do.
FWIW, some say they need to re-grease every year or two to prevent squeak, others say their kits don't make noise ever. (I suspect some squeak is in the higher frequency range that older folks tend not to hear.) YMMV, depending on grease and bushing kit.
I believe you can only use silicone grease and you probably won't be able to find any locally, unless you buy a bunch of little containers from the hardware store for plumbing fixtures, try home depot or plumbing wholesale company. This is what I used.
