BSM Removal Video Tutorial
Just launched another DIY video, im documenting all of the changes and installs i'm making to my 2002 convertible.
Enjoy!
What you need:
-Fishing line (15/20lb test monofilament is recommended)
-Heat source (hot sunny day, blow dryer, not a heat gun)
-Goo Gone
-Microfibers
-Buffing compound (optional if you accidentally scuff the surface during the process)
-Patience and elbow grease
1. Heat up an area at a time and using the fishing line in a see-saw motion apply light pressure and work your way across the body side moldings.
2. Use your fingers to peel off all of the foam double sided adhesive left behind. Use the rolling technique shown where applicable. You will have some residue left over from the adhesive.
3. Use a microfiber to dab on some googone onto the left over residue. Let it sit for 5 minutes and use the microfiber to remove the broken down residue.
4. *Optional* If you were a little rough during the fishing line see-saw ordeal you may have scuff marks on your paint underneath where the BSM was. Use some buffing compound to take care of these scuffs and swirls (Megs Ultimate Compound recommended)
If you don't like your BSM i hope you liked this video!
Drive safe.
