Two suggestions:
One, get a Ram Mount system with a suction-cup, long arm, and camera mount. Stick the cup on the windshield.
Two, get the same setup along with a helmet camera. This allows you to stick the camera almost anywhere on the car, including the exterior body panels. Comes with an external microphone, too.
