Default Cam list?

Im getting a parts list together for heads and cam.. I already have the btr stage 3 cam, spring kit. I bought the ls2 timing chain, my question is should I replace the timing chain damper with a new OEM one? Should I replace the oil pump with a high volume or pressure? I want to replace the lifter with a link bar and lifter trays..your thoughts? Thanks

The more you replace while you're in there, the better. My suggestion is to replace everything you can afford. The timing chain, timing chain damper, and oil pump are no-brainers to me as they're pretty cheap and all wear items. I recommend a high volume pump, that is what most people go with. The Melling high volume pump (10296) will come with two springs, one for standard pressure and another for higher pressure. The standard pressure spring is what most people run because the added volume flow in itself increases oil pressure across the board. You'll get better/more flow and more pressure all from one unit.

As far as lifters, I would also replace those while you're in there. Link bar style lifters certainly are the more expensive route, but if you want the high RPM/longer life piece-of-mind, then go for it. Many folks on here seem to go with LS7 lifters/trays without any problems. They're the most affordable option.

My only other suggestion would be to consider a trunnion kit if you haven't installed one already. CHE and/or Smith Brothers are two great options for that.

Good luck with the build!
