I have a transition area when I turn into our alley. A dip followed by a rolling bulge going uphill. Occasionally it will trigger a "Service Vehicle Soon" message. Pulling the codes shows a SWPS correlation fault in history. My 99 does not have the active handling option, and the fault does not seem to affect anything.
In non-active handling vehicles, does the steering wheel position sensor serve any purpose other than throwing a fault? A new part is not available and there is no guarantee that the very expensive used parts are any better than the one I already have.
