Default question

So I take my sweetie out for an ice cream in my 2001 ZO6. Got to the ice cream stand and shut the car off and it went dead! It will not attempt to start. It doesn't click--nothing. Windows wont work door locks nothing. The under hood light does not come on, but the headlights will actuate and come on but not real bright. Does this sound like my battery took a dump? It's supposed to be a new battery according to the seller but i've heard of them failing unexpectedly at any time. I had her hauled home safely on a flat bed and shes tucked in the garage. Anyone have a similar experience or ideas?
Thanks,
Roger

If you have a voltmeter check the battery voltage. Should be 12.6 or higher. Sounds like your battery has to be replaced unless there is something that is draining your battery.
If it's not the battery, you can try these tests

Sounds like your battery has a bad cell. Have it load tested to confirm. Places like AutoZone test for free.

If it started when you left home and you shut it off I would check for a batt cable try to twist it betting it is your problem

Vinceg,
I think you were on the right track! I disconnected the battery and reconnected it and she fired right up! I took it for about a fifty mile drive and she started right up again after shutting it off. I'm happy for the easy fix but am concerned about an underlying problem. I ran a diagnostic check and didn't find any current codes.
Thank you for your input,

I've had that happen before where the battery was fine one minute, and dead the next. I had a 2006 Grand Prix GXP that did that to me. And the battery wasn't very old either. Good thing I was somewhere where it was easy to get a jump.
