Default Having a few problems with 2001 convertible, my first Corvette

Hi - I just got a 2001 Corvette Convertible. I'm having a few issues, so I'm hoping you can tell me what parts and part number I need. I'm not 100% sure what some of these things are called, but will do my best....
1) the lid that hides the rag top when stowed wont stay up. I need the hydraulic strut to keep it open while I store the top.
2) the driver power memory won't work when putting the seat to the driving position, but will work going to the getting out of car position. The seat has a little bit of play in it, so I don't know if it's a track issue or a electronic issue. If you could direct my parts for both problems.
3) CD player in truck wont open. Could it be a fuse?
4) Gas cap is hit and miss when pushing the button to open.
Thank you,
MailDude

Well hope it dont turn to another money pit c5

But the convert top may not be fully seated or you have something in the trunk that needs to be moved. Sometimes you have to slam the cover btw.

Ah, don't say that
Nothing in truck. The lid won't stay up so I can't use both hands to sit the top down into it's spot. The fiberglass that hides the top won't stay up on it's own, so I think there is a hydraulic strut that needs to be replaced, but don't know for sure or what the part number is to order one.

Its the sad truth. Bare in mind we own old cars but you may need to slam the lid down to close it, if the lid wont stay open then yes you need new struts.

Old cars need work. If it turns out to be a money pit, sell it and buy another one.

Don't panic and throw the towel in. There are many things on these cars that can be easily fixed. Many items are covered in this forum.

Here is a link for the tonneau cover struts. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sour...=1564305256055

As for the memory seat, after moving the seat and mirrors to your desired position, did you press and hold the desired button (1 or 2) on the door until the light blinks? I can't remember if there is an audible beep. Then if you unlock the door with the correct fob, the seat should move once you put the key in the ignition. If you don't unlock with the fob, the seat will not move unless you press the button on the door. If you turn off easy exit, the seat will move to memory setting when you use the fob to unlock the door.

The seat shifting sounds like the rocking seat syndrome. There are plastic shims you can buy. Search "C5 Corvette rocking seat" and you should find plenty of reading to determine if that is your issue.

Lastly, the intermittent gas cover release is likely a loose connection at the switch. You need to remove the center console and make sure the plug is firmly seated in the switch. The wires are VERY short and can easily be pulled when reinstalling the center console.

Right shoulder works great to hold up Tonneau while raising and lowering top.
Gas cap switch is just a simple off/on momentary. Maybe just need to make sure you have a good connection to the switch.
