Yes, that means the entire system is rendered useless. You can save something like 16-20 pounds and clean up your engine bay quite a bit if you remove the piping/pump.
I just had mine tuned out, is there anyway to remove that bolt that holds the check valve on the back of the head with intake still on? I just swapped intakes last year, should have done it then.......

There really isn't an "easy" way without removing the intake. If you know someone with super flexible and tiny hands, they may be able to work is loose. Aside from that, I know some guys just cut the tubing as far back as they can and leave the remainder behind the motor until they get another chance to access the bolt.
I pulled that bolt with the intake on and engine fully assembled otherwise just for the sheer challenge of it. I don't recommend it to anyone. It was not worth it in the end. You can have the intake off the car literally in less than 10 minutes.
IIRC everything weighed out to exactly 10lbs for those that care.
