Default Brake question

I'm getting the C1243 code which is BPMV Pump Motor Stalled. I've seen bench test videos of people testing the ABS motor by applying electricity just to the motor.
Can this be done with the unit in the car? I thought I initially found an article where it was tested in the car but I can't find it now and don't want to remove
the pump unless I really have to.

The first thing you should do is check to make sure you have a good ground for the pump motor. The pump motor is grounded at G101 which is located on the driver's side front frame. Check the ground to make sure it is clean and tight and then use a DVM set in resistance mode to check the resistance between pump motor ground stud and a known good chassis ground. The wire going from the pump motor stud to G101 could be bad as well which would mean repairing it. Also check the battery and the battery cables to make sure they have clean solid connections to the battery.

Here is a schematic showing the power and ground connections to both ABS modules (EBTCM and BPMV).

If you feel up to it you could remove the EBTCM from the BPMV (has all the brake lines going to it) and check to see if the electrical connections between the two are in good condition. The 1243 diagnostic does include checking the ground path from Pin 8 on the BPMV to the pump motor ground stud, however, you may not be able to touch pin 8 with a meter lead without having the service break out box.
