Default Doing my first wrap.

As a third generation mechanic who considers passion projects nothing short of necessary therapy. I know I can do this. Repetition is the mother of skill. 1 time or 10 times I will eventually wrap my C5 once I get my fender and blemishes straightened out. What tools and brand of vinyl is the gold standard for wrapping?

I’m gonna start with my hood. So any wrap guys out there. Please give me list of what I’ll need to do this properly.

Thanks.
After what I seen in this video. There’s not a doubt in my mind I can do this and save money for other stuff I want.

Screw that.

I wrapped my targa top and I had to do it twice. I tried doing my hood....Pfft nope.

These youtube videos make it look so easy. A friend who does this always tells me it's all dependent on the wrap manufacturer and how good the car's paint has been prepped and maintained. Some use water solution for applying some don't.

It's always the intricate corners and curves that suck. Flat, square, even places are easy. It's the dam curves and rounded edges that suck.

I keep wanting to do mine. the only issue I see is the rear bumper. Some guys say they can do it in one piece other installers say a seam is a must

My guy says one piece but the bumper has to come off to do it.

No doubt a challenging task. I’ve been on some pretty big shut downs in the heavy industrial maintenance game. 22-29 hrs. Fortunate enough to be exposed to some real talent instead of complainers. That made an impression when you see guys doing pretty awesome work. I enjoy what I do for a living. Now I’d like to test the custom skills on the vette. Probably buy a test piece to practice on. With end results that good it’s worth a shot if you got the hands for it.

How did your Targa come out the second time? Post a pic.

3M and Avery materials seem to be the go to. Cutting tape is also a great thing to have to prevent any knife marks.
