Rear Trunk Lid...
I would rather not take it in and use my $50 deductible.. if I don't have to.
:mad

This is a very common problem, that seems to get worse with colder weather, and once it starts it never seems to get better. Also, if you have a trunk liner insert (like me), that seems to add that much more weight to the lid that makes it difficult to "spring" open. One "fix" that I would NOT recommend is to unscrew the rubber bumpers a little on the lid that would essentially provide more upward pressure when released, because I've heard stories of the lid actually warping. I've also heard that a good vette mechanic can adjust the mechanism that can help, but he has to be familiar with the issue. Right now I "get by" by inserting my finger in the corner of the deck lid and lift up, or-as mentioned above-to release the deck lid, then close the door creating internal pressure which pops the lid up nicely. PITA, but does the job. Hope it helps!

The trunk lid on my convertible would not pop up high enough to get a finger under it. I was able to fix mine in about ten minutes. Give this a try if you are having the same problem. Post here if it works for you.
1) Remove the carpet trim pieces in the trunk to expose the latch assembly. You will see the black spring that is supposed to push the trunk lid up by pushing up the U shaped hook on the trunk lid. . Notice that it is curled down at the end.
2) I was able to straighten out the curl with a pair of vice-grips. It is not totally straight, but just enough to push up the trunk lid about one inch every time.
