Default Fuel sender or fuel pump problem ?

My 2004 C5Z06 has a strange problem reasently
The fuel level gauge will show its full while it will stop suddenly because it is empty of fuel
When I refill it it will take half the amount it should take
So what do you think is the problem ?

I'll beat everybody to the punch. Just put techron gas treatment when you fill up. Seems like it fixes over 90% of this known problem with the sending unit.
Unfortunately it didn't work for me.

If Im understanding you correctly, you run out of gas but when you fill up, it only takes half the normal amount. If this is correct, your passenger tank is not transferring fuel. The jet pump orifice is plugged and needs to be replaced or opened up. My understanding is it is difficult to open up so replacing might be easier.

Yes you understand me correctly
But why it will show that the tank is full while its not ? Is the tank level sender part of the jet pump ?

You have a sending unit in BOTH tanks and they are part of the fuel pump and jet pump assemblies. Under normal operation, the passenger tank is used first and the computer compares the levels of the two tanks to display the fuel level on the gage. Since your passenger tank is not draining, the computer is "confused" and doesn't display the level correctly.

May be more than one problem.

I had the running out of gas problem due to a clogged jet pump. The gas gauge would read normal until I drove 100-150 miles or so from full, then it would go to zero because the PCM was sensing incorrect gas levels between tanks (i.e., gas being used out of left tank instead of right tank).
