I am planning the following mods:
Corsa Indys,MAF upgrade with airfoil, powerduct, vortex ram air, Port and polished TB........I was told that the auto tap and translator is well worth while.....anyone with experience with this/knowledge? Hard to use/do?
Hey Marc if you need autotap just let me know cause i am probably going to be selling mine soon. My latop is new and only has usb ports so i cant hook up autotap without buying a $80 adapter from them which i really dont feel like doing. If your interested just drop me a line.
You can buy his autotap, and I'll sell you my MAF translator :D It doesn't work on my '01, I bought it used and it has been sitting in my hatch for 3 months  If you're interested let me know
Thanks Chuckster...can you explain what exactly the MAFT and auto tap are? how hard to use and will I risk messing anything up??? Would I want to just go right to LS1 edit?(what is that anyhow)...lol lots of q's...sorry guys...gotta learn somehow! A useful link to the product website may help

the MAFT "fools" the PCM into thinking that there is more (or less) air flowing past the MAF than there actually is.
AutoTap is diagnostic software.
I did some research....would I be better off just getting the car dyno tuned after I complete the mods I want to do? Also will the computer adjust over time and need re-adjusting if I get it dyno tuned or use the MAFT auto tap setup? I guess what I am hoping to do is do the mods and then make any adjustments necessary and be done and just enjoy the car without further adjustments needed....is this possible? Seems as though new the auto tap and MAFT is the same $ range as dyno tuning....(I know I can by it used though and save a few bucks)
The other thing I was going to mention was that I am planning on doing FLP header setup and having a C5 expert do the work at a dealership....cant they just scan the car and adjust afterwards?
My 2000 I did vortex, powerduct,MAT(which I hear now I shouldnt have)MAF with airfoil, corsa indy and xpipe......I didnt worry about air/fuel and adjustments but I guess I should have....
MAFT/Autotap allows you to scan and adjust A/F ratio for optimum performance with each and every mod added, eventually to the point of final PCM tune. If you got the $$$ to do all mods on your wish list at once then do a PCM tune.
Your PCM can be reprogrammed with different parameters for performance using LS1edit, Diablo etc. or the aftermarket computer burners..Cole, Wright, etc
What would be better for me? PCM tune or the MAFT/auto tap???
Should I just wait to do all the mods at once? if so and they use LS1 edit...is this where dyno tuning is done?
I already put on MAF housing upgrade, power duct, and corsa indys.....What I am hoping to do is throw on Vortex ram air, S2 Throttle body, Ls6 Intake, FLP headers/high flow cats/xpipe.....and get the car adjusted once and be done with mods and just enjoy.......is this possible or is it never ending with adjustments??? whats my best option guys?

You don't need LS1-edit yet.. You are still tweaking....That is the beauty of the MAFT...you can tweak in seconds...
If you have all the stuff right now...Then install it all..then
Go ahead and start with the MAFT and tuning.. If not no big deal...Install a mod then Tune it...Install another mod then tune it..
what chuckster said...see my sig for mods similar to yours..what a different animal when I dialed in my MAFT..and read kwelbreeze's tech paper
.....just received my FLPs today...man are they sweet.. they will lean out A/F so i will just adjust MAFT...I'm not ready for PCM burn yet

Your gonna be surprised with the Long Tube headers...They are going to make you rich...
I thought lean too... but it was the opposite.. Something to do with the scavenging effect of the headers pulling unburnt fuel from the cylinders..
Here you go, two links, LS1-EDIT and Autotap: 1.) http://www.carputing.com/ 2.) http://www.autotap.com/ Alot of info on both sites.Do a search in c5 SCAN and TUNE for additional material. This place is a library!! Good Luck.

Thanks for the tip..at least I got Autotap to be sure and the MAFT to dial in the newA/F ratio...see what I mean ...Vern ;)
