Default Top end rebuilt ls1

Its time! I replace the plugs last thursday due to 3 of them being caked will oil. It was not we but enough for the plug to not fire, 2 days later the same 3 plugs had oil contact but not as bad.

Im assuming the seals are foul and who knows what else until i take it apart.

The question here. Is where can i source a good set of valve seals and springs but with stock specs? No point to dump money in a cam and head job since i will swap to ls3.

Also any input of parts to be replaced while its open.

You're assuming valve seals without compression or leak down numbers? Wouldn't it behoove you to know the compression is good prior to putting a lot of work into changing over the top end? I would hate to go through all that only to find the same plugs continued to oil foul.

Excellent! I suspect I had read that somewhere along your path. Apologizes for my poor assumption.
That said, what kind of compression do you have?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I know my heads have to be wasted. Im also sure the rings might be going out now, i cam just feel the engine getting tired.

A compression test is in order. I am wondering if the symptoms might be caused by a failed/ plugged catalytic converter.

When you say mufflers, do you mean the mufflers at the very rear of the car? I assume you are not confusing those with rear or front catalytic converters-

Rear mufflers, i had straight pipe before.

Now my c5 is and has been on double duty for many years and never a garage queen. I've pushed it to its limits many times and yes that means redline and even over rev at time mainly by accident.

It sure does feel worn and i know the top end may not solve much but it will just to get me by for the ls3 build. I can tune the o2 sensor out with my hptuner but have smog coming in a few months so that is not an option.

By all means this has the potential to be a pair of very fine threads. First this one, with how the top end build goes, and how the results fair, then again with the LS3 in the future.

Update: The valves to have a small leak as expected and a rebuild will cost $285 for both.
