...that's what is says in my GM repair manual. I can't believe everyone here owns a lift to remove the engine. I certainly don't.
I was wondering if anyone has done a thread on removing the motor out through the top. Did a search here and didn't find anything. Can someone give me the scoop on the easy way to get the motor out. I'm in the process of rebuilding the entire drive train from the back of the motor on back to the rear wheels (except rear wheel bearings - had a mechanic replace the rear knuckles including the rubber bushings a few years back so I assume they're ok).
I figured while I've got all the rearward stuff tore out of it I might as well go ahead and do a motor rebuild (235K on the clock) until I read through the procedure in the manual. Now I'm not sure...
The car is a 2004 coupe 6 speed manual.
thanks
David

I did mine out the bottom without a lift. Took everything from the engine to the rear end out in one piece. Used Harbor Freight dollies to roll it out from underneath the car. Was pretty simple. Did you have to get the car along way up in the air.
[Edit]
I also just pulled the rear end out of my C6 earlier this spring. Pretty much the same thing. Didn't need to get it up quite as high obviously.
Check out this guys youtube channel, works out of his garage with normal tools most of us have. He has video of doing things the book says can not be done.
