Unfortunately I was one of the people that broke one of the long adjustment rods while messing around with LED bulbs while rebuilding my motors after a gear failure in the driver headlight. After reading a bunch of forum entries about the "golden rod" adjuster saga and not finding any recent sources ended up getting a used assembly off of ebay to put things back together. I started thinking after spending the money on a whole assembly that someone probably makes them and sent an email to the guy that made the metal gear set for the motors asking if he happened to make these rods. He didn't know about the issue but after reading the forum posts I sent him thought he might be able to come up with a solution. After a few weeks he asked about getting some example parts - long rods (broken is OK) or short rods (does anyone even break these?) to help with fine tuning a solution. I had already thrown away the long rod I broke but will send him my extra short one from the used assembly. If you have a short or long adjuster rod (broken or whole) that you don't mind giving up send them to Rodney (appropriate for source for adjustment rods right?) at 7604 Treeview Drive, Caledonia, WI 53108. He said he would reimburse for shipping (send first class) if interested.I'm not getting anything out of this except for hopefully helping the community have a solution for the broken rod scenario without having to buy a whole assembly... I'm assuming there is still a need for these things since I just broke one...
Rodney also says that anyone that sends him any will get new ones in exchange. He says he should have these done in about 3-4 weeks or so. Sounds like our golden rod problem is finally going to be solved!
If you can get the gear part that broke off along with the shaft that would be the most help. Can’t believe it’s been this long until someone is going to try to make these!
