I’m 3rd owner of 2003 Corvette 50th Anniversary Edition.Purchased March 2019 with 58k miles.Have driven 4k miles in 5 months. With engine “warm” while driving, I have received on 3 or 4 occasions multiple Errors on Instrument Panel.

Service Vehicle Soon
Service Active Handling
Reduced Engine Power
Service Traction System
Service Ride Control

Nearly every module when scrolling thru the DLC records a U1016

Chevrolet indicated that I may have just a “ground problem” due to corrosion. There are 9 ground points on the chassis, but also 3 or 4 “Star Ground Connectors” that I intend to clean.

Questions. I’m also interested in possibly having my PCM and BCM modules servicedPCM because of U1016 error code;BCM because my car will NOT go into TPMS Training Mode and I believe TPMS is enabled/disabled in BCM..Looking for recommendation on whom to send to?Recommendations!!??!!
Thanks, in advance, for your helpfulness

Well damn! Heh, a quick google search returns for the code:

U1016 Meaning
The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) communicates over the Serial Communication Protocol (SCP) bus network, or J1850 bus. ... When the PCM is unable to communicate with any other controller at any time while the ignition switch is turned on, code U1016 will set. This is the typical reason for this code to set.

U1016 CHEVROLET Possible Causes

  • Faulty / intermittent ignition switch connections
  • J1850 / SCP Bus wiring intermittently open, shorted to power or ground
  • Faulty / intermittent connection at the Powertrain Control Module (PCM)

U1016 CHEVROLET Tech Notes

This is typically an electrical wiring connection issue at one of the controllers being monitored by the manufacturer.
It can occur if:
Someone changes a battery while the ignition switch is left on, that is, left in the “Run” position.
Someone flashes/upgrades their engine controller – other modules unable to communicate with the PCM during this process – this will set U1016 at a multitude of controllers on the vehicle – all false codes. Erase and carry on.

So sounds like the Ground theory *might be* valid...alternatively it could be false reports from the module..

I know that Alvin from PCM's For Less was known for mail-order tunes/updates, might want to try contacting him or similar, in terms of what this could mean for the Computer. Unfortunately I don't have a list of vendors that mail-order tune.

This question is asked every few days from newbies to ones who've been on the forum for years, it also has been answered over and over and over if you just use the search.

May as well just clean all the grounds.
