Default Trailer Hitch Question C5 Coupe

Hello All,

When i picked up my C5 Coupe the previous owner had a trailer hitch installed to tow a small trailer with for tires and such for track days. I recently removed the hitch itself but i'm left with a question about how to remove two of the bolts that are currently inside the frame rail. I thought taking off the rear fascia and going through the back crash bar was the answer but it isn't open and so i'm left with how in the heck did they even get them in there to begin with. I'm probably over looking something, I've put some photos below of the bolt locations for reference.

Thank you.

There is likely another hole in which the bolt was fed into and pulled to the hole it is currently in. You would have to reverse the process to get it back out.

I found this video which may help.

Thank you for sharing the video. I'll have to see if they used a larger secondary hole to pass them through.

Looking at the pictures again, are those holes factory? If they are, you might be able to flip the washer and bolt assembly over and slide the bolt out of the washer and hole. I'd tie a string on the bolt in the event you have to pull the bolt back to the current position. Worst case scenario would be to put a nut on the bolts and leave in place.

Just run a nut and lock washer down tight so it wont rattle and leave it there.

I'm not totally sure. I can't think of anyway to get them out. There is no other holes in the area except where the subframe bolt comes up through. I'll try the string method and see if I can get them flipped. I'll let you guys know.

To bring this post to a close, I ended up taking a dremel tool and ground the holes open more and I was able to get the bolt and plate out of the frame. This ended up being the only way as there was no other holes to gain access too.

Thank you for all the help.
