This issue started over 2 weeks ago. This car is my daily driver so I need it back asap.
I was driving along and the car cut off on me, so I started it back up and it drove fine for about 2 minutes and then sputtered a few times and died again. This time it started and then would die as soon as I let go of the key. (Key returns to run position)
I've tried everything I can think of. I've tested fuses and relays and grounds for the ignition, fuel pump, and bcm. Put a new fuel pump, ignition switch, ignition cylinder with new key, and fuel pump relay in the car. The bcm relay tested good but i did not replace it. Should I just to be sure?
Could it be a TPS or an IAC? The only code I've gotten out of the car is B2723 which is the pass key detection circuit. That's why I replaced all the ignition stuff. Would it help to do a bcm relearn? I also replaced the battery about a week before this happened mainly because it had a bad cell. Could this have triggered something in the bcm?
Last thing is the oil level low message, could this shut the car down? The car is at the full mark but I can't seem to get rid of the oil message. I replaced the level sensor about 2000 miles ago.
Car is a 2002 z06
Thanks in advance, Spencer
Check fuel pressure on the injector fuel rail, disconnect a spark plug wire and check for spark, you have to know what is cutting out when you return the switch to the run position, have you inspected the pcm in the passenger side tire well area, check condition of wiring and connectors. I don't believe you have a crank sensor problem since it does start and run if you hold the key in the start position, hope this helps.
When you have no crank condition . Do you observe any rpm in your cluster tachometer gauge ?
If not , you may have problems with your crank sensor signal
When you replaced your lock cylinder and key did you make sure your new key (resistor pellet) had the same resistance value as the old one ??...with the B2723 present I'd make sure to look that the lock cylinder connector wiring connection is good and also look for an open or short to voltage between both the purple/white wire and the white black to the BCM...if it's not right it's not gonna' start !!...the low oil level will not shut the car down...without checking low oil level wiring but only the sensor the job was only half completed !!...oh, BTW there is NO IAC on the car and YES a faulty TPS can keep the car from starting...if the voltages are incorrect it's like you are doing a "clear flood crank" during start...you will have no injector pulse.
