I bought a 2004 Z06 earlier this year. I really like the car in general, but the steering is slow enough to annoy me.
I did a search and didn't find any forum posts about this. I would buy the SLR quick steer kit with no hesitation except for the fact that the stock spindle/steering arm has to be modified in order to install the kit. That makes me reluctant to make the change, since used spindles could be a real pain to track down if I decide I want to go back to stock in the future.
Any way - any of you installed the SLR quick steer kit? What do you think? How has it held up?
Used spindles/uprights shouldn't be too bad. No new OEM ones? The later-model C6 spindles (which are beefier) are available for around $300-350 a set and they swap straight on, so you could always get those. People sell used uprights because they upgrade to either the later-model C6 uprights or billet drop spindles; C5s are popular enough as track cars that there's a steady supply of these. Oh, also, part-outs from wrecked cars; if it gets hit in the rear the front uprights should be totally fine.

I've got a complete set of spindles with about 45k miles from my c5z in the attic lol... have the wheel bearings too but those might be expensive to ship... just an fyi there are only 2 different spindles, the driver front gets flipped around and used on the passenger rear and the passenger front gets flipped to the driver rear
