The remote key fobs that came with my car stopped working. I changed the batteries, re-synched and reprogrammed them then they would only lock the doors. They would neither unlock the car, release the hatch nor sound the alarm. I ordered a new remote and after synching and programming it did the same thing. I then disconnected the car's battery hoping to reset everything and now I get no response at all. I cannot synch or program the new remote. Am I missing something here or has the receiver in the car died? If so, does anyone know where it's located and how expensive and difficult is it to replace? Is it even worth the effort? Thanks in advance for your insight.
You can also update your receiver to 2001-2004 MY and get new key fobs for about $10.00 on Ebay. However, you would lose the TPMS unless you also updated your sensors.
If they're old, time to do it. A new (used) receiver could run between $50. to $100.00 and the sensors around $180.00. If you plan to keep your old one, the offer from Pounder sounds pretty good...
For an updated receiver I got mine here from a wrecked 2003... www.contemporarycorvette.com GOOD LUCK with whatever you decide...
