Battery went dead and I installed a new bat. A/C was cooling perfectly before the bat went dead, now after the new bat was installed, the AC isn't cooling nearly as good. I've read that the blend doors may need to be indexed, so my question is how do you "index" the AC blend doors on a C5, 2002?

Try this:
Re-Calibrating Actuators
Use the following steps to perform the calibration update:
1. Turn OFF the ignition.
2. Remove the battery positive voltage circuit fuse of the HVAC Control Module (fuse #27 in the passenger fuse box).
Important
The module memory will not clear if the battery positive voltage circuit fuse is installed in less than 60 seconds.
3. Wait 60 seconds.
4. Install the fuse.
After reinserting the fuse, start the car. It will take about a minute or so for the system to re-calibrate.
DO NOT CHANGE ANY SETTINGS WHILE IT'S CALIBRATING!
Just wanted to confirm this process worked for me. Replaced the A/C compressor on my 2000. The driver side was blowing cold air, but the passenger side was stuck blowing max hot air. I attempted to adjust the passenger controls but they did not seem to have any effect. In order to get the reset to work I had to follow this process:
Remove fuse #27.
Disconnect the Positive side of the battery.
wait a few minutes.
Replace the #27 fuse.
Reconnect the battery.
Turn key to Acc position and wait. IT took a few seconds and the HVAC system activated and turned on the fan. At this point the passenger side adjust from max hot to the same temp as the driver side.
Turn key off and remove.
Insert the key and start the car.
Thanks for the post, really save me time trying to trouble shoot.

No need to disconnect positive battery cable. However, when pulling fuse 27 IN THE PASSENGER FOOTWELL, "a few minutes" doesn't cut it. You must leave the fuse out for 5 minutes, minimum. I prefer 6 minutes. Whats another minute? BUT, under 5 minutes WILL NOT WORK.....
I have had AC problems on my 2002 Corvette for over 2 years. The drivers side continually blows hot air and the passenger side cold air. Had it to two AC shops, one told me it was the climate control module. Bought a used one, still a problem. The next shop told me it was the actuators. I explained I had replaced both. He said it had to be bad actuators. Two weeks later he called and said he could not fix it. New actuators did not fix the problem. He said refrigerant was good and no vaccum leaks. So, I have removed my dash to see if I can find the problem. I need an article or discussion about how the vents work and an article about indexing the actuators. Any help would be appreciated. I have tried resetting it more times than I can count...no luck.

I had same problem. Turns out the insulation on the control flap in the heater/A/C box crumbles off and even when the door is closed, hot air leaks around the flapper and out the vent. They say there is a flapper door kit , although I could not find one. What I did was remove the LH actuator motor on the rt. or the driver's footwell. Before you disassemble the actuator, note a alignment mark on the outside where the shaft is. Now dissassemble carefully, and reindex the gear counterclockwise three to four teeth. Reinstall and perform the actuator reset by pulling fuse no. 27 in the pass. footwell and wait six minutes. Reinstall fuse and turn key to accessories till you hear actuators move. Do not start. Cycle key on, start car and Bob's your uncle. Good luck!
Thanks, there hasn't been any actuator codes.. The Vette's in storage now but I'll certainly check that in the spring.
Counting the days now, about 100 left.
