So I ordered an OEM front end emblem for my C5 (P/N 10258164) and removed the old one today which was cracked in several places.
But as soon as I tried to install the new one, I noticed the posts were too far apart to fit.
Looks like I'll have to return it, but I can't understand why it doesn't fit.
Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!
After I posted, I noticed the P/N superseded the one you mentioned. You didn't buy a china knockoff did you? That emblem should have cost between 90-130 bucks. If it didn't, you got a repo.

It was $95 from a GM dealer. online. It came in the OEM packaging, but I believe I found the issue:
Personally I'd just snip off the posts, stick it on there, and call it a day. The tape is what actually holds it down, the posts are just to position it.

There are mixed reviews on the C5 having speed nuts on the posts or just being taped on. C4's had speed nuts on the posts for sure.

When I removed mine and replaced it with a polished aluminum version, there were no speed nuts on the OEM piece nor did my aluminum one even have posts on it.
