Default Sent my computer out for custom programming and now....

They wont send it back or return my phone calls!! I had to buy a new computer yesterday just so I can send it to the shop and get my car running. :bs Once the new computer is installed and the car is running right, I can go and pick it up, hopefully on this Sunday.

The place that has my computer held hostage "for almost 3 weeks" is not a Forum Vendor... This is the same place that recently sold me specialty parts that I needed for what I found out later was at a 40% markup. I dont mind paying for what I get but Jesus Christ... 40% markup?? To boot... I also found out that fittings that were sent for my cars custom install (actual cost $5) were billed for $135 by the same place.

After waiting 50+ days for my original Custom parts to arrive, They said they felt bad about the delay... I was told by this place to send my computer to them and they will take care of the custom programming. They said they had programs already to go that were proven to work very well with my custom setup. They took care of it alright...

Since I still need my old computer back as core... I am not going to start a flame war with this place. In fact I have been nothing but nice with them from the beginning. I finally had it 2 days ago when I could not get them to return my calls or even tell me when my computer was to be returned. I just could not allow my car to sit in a shop waiting for a computer that may never come back. :(

Just goes to show you that we should stick to the Forum Vendors whenever possible.

I will let you know how it all turns out..

vetterdstr

This sounds like exactly the same problem I had with the vendor I originally ordered my ATI Procharger kit and programmed PCM from. I wonder if we both were dealing with the same people? If you email or call me I'll tell you who it was and exactly what I did to resolve it.

That realls sucks...So far i have dealt with forum vendors and been treated great...Before i bought the Z i toyed with the idea of getting a Clown Shoe ...And called a tuner , his name was John Hennessey....He shure talked the talk good...To make a long story short, went with the Z and NO regrets, from all the stuff that happened with JH, i would have probably ended up in a mess...

Would you IM or email me the shop's name? I would surely like to avoid them. :mad

Vetterdstr, that's terrible to hear. Why would they do that? Do they hate staying in business? Why don't you just tell us who it is? It's not like it's a forum vendor anyway.

Good luck.

It's really too bad that venders like this exist. For what it's worth, I think you made a wise decision to buy a new computer, just to get your car up and running again. Once you get your car on the road, you can deal with this lowlife accordingly. I know who this vender is, and he should realize that once word spreads on the CorvetteForum that he exhibits unscrupulous business practices, he may have dug himself into a hole that he'll never get out of with the Corvette community.

I know who this vendor is also, I tried to do business with them initially because they have a very good reputation with FI applications, but they never returned my calls, so I wrote them off (glad I did). I’ve also read about others having the same experience as you did. It's important to understand that many of these shops just have no understanding of the business model that is required to do business on the internet. They treat local customers great, but take advantage of those who are just a voice on the phone or an email on the screen (a la Hennesy). So yes, stick with the forum vendors. They have problems too, but at least they understand the business model and have some commitment to building a good reputation on the net.

I dont know what is going on with this guy... I dont know why I am being treated this way. Since I still need my Computer back for a Core charge... I am not going to say anything bad about them on this or any other forum.

What I will tell you is to stick with Forum Vendors... because this place isnt one of them.....

The good news is that I already have the computer and I also have an appointment with MMS next week for a dyno tune. :) I am actually very happy I went that route... It forced me into it... but overall It is the best thing I could have done in these circumstances. :yesnod: I know MMS will have great results with my car.

You'll be happy with Mike's computer magic! They just got me into the 11's on motor and I am a VERY happy customer! :yesnod: Enjoy the fact that you will be able to go to sleep at night knowing that whatever problems you may have will no longer be computer-related once MMS has done it's thing!

Sorry to hear about the problems.

I sure hope that this isn't the place in Lakewood/Denver, CO. I am planning on taking my car there for tuning after I get the Vortech installed. I may have to rethink my plan but I don't think that there is anyone else in the area that does tuning.

Steve

Sorry to hear that you were treated so poorly. Hope you get your car back soon.

I can relate to how difficult it is to be without the Vette. I am having serious withdrawl pains; it has been about 10 weeks for me. I delayed picking my car up last week due to the storms. Looking forward to going to Phoenix one week from today. :D
