Default Battery relocation to rear coupe.

I recently was updating my stereo and decided to relocate my battery to the rear of the car for balance. I wanted to keep a full size battery to fit my general use of the car. It was a good time to relocate since I was going to be running a power wire to back for the amp anyway. Since it's a coupe, I wanted to seal the battery off from the passenger compartment. I planned on using the center well for a stealthbox for the subwoofer, so decided to use the passenger side cubby for the battery. I recently purchased a Deka Intimidator 9A78DT Group 34/78 AGM Battery for the oem mounting location, so didn't want to buy another battery to fit the rear. I probably should have just got an optima red top, since it would have fit the mount easier, but saved a few bucks in my situation. I bought an optima battery mount off ebay and modified it a bit to fit my battery, and into the cubby. I made a bracket out of angle iron underneath the cubby that tied the battery bracket into the frame, so the battery doesn't go flying around in a wreck.

To seal off the battery to the passenger compartment, I fabbed up an aluminum cover. It screws down tight and the cubby hole is well vented to the outside. I used gland seal connectors for all my wire pass-throughs to the cubby. Grommets would have been fine, but I like how the gland seals tighten up to hold the wires in place. I added a 100a breaker for my amplifier and a 200a breaker for the main 0 guage power wire running up to the front of the car. It's all set up to easily add a solid state relay shutoff switch whenever I feel it's needed. Grounded to the frame in the rear.

Figured I'd post this for the next guy looking to do something similar.

How do you mount the battery tray to the fiberglass cubby? The cubby doesn't have a flat bottom, which is my biggest concern before jumping on it.

Nice job! FWIW if people are looking to do this afterdark sells a kit.

It doesn't have the cool cover, but should take out some of the fab work.
