I have Bridgestone Potenza SO3's and am taking the car onto the track for a "fun day". The track is mostly curves and bends. What pressure should I have in my tires.
Thanks
Re: What tire pressure would you recommend (Naylin)
For autox events we put the tires at almost max psi. So if you tires are rated at 44psi we run them at about 40psi. It all depends on ho wfast you'll be going. At an autox we rarely hit over 50mph and that is only on a straight away.
Esentially if you are doing HARD cornering then you mant a lot of pressure in the tire to keep the sideway form folding over the rim. You can actually break the bead if it is too low and the car has good suspension.
Re: What tire pressure would you recommend (Naylin)
The tire pressures recommend in the uwners manual are designed for tires with 44 PSI maximum pressures. The B S03s are 51 PSI maximum pressure tires, they do not deliver their rated load at factory recommended pressures. I tried some experiments with mine, and ended up at 39 PSI rear, 41 PSI front. An interesting part of this experiment was (and is): after I found the right pressure range, the ride was BETTER than when I had them too low!!!
But, again, the only real way to know is to get a tire pyrometer.

Warm pressure. Or Hot if you can. I usually leave myself about 4-5psi cushion if I air them up cold so that if they get really hot I will still be below the MAX psi. Depends on how long each racing session is. In autox it is no more than 2min so heat is not a huge factor. Now in a road coarse longer than 2min it could be a bigger factor to watch for.
