Default [HELP] Suspension Removal Question

I have run into this bolt and I don't know what to do. It is located at the bottom of my lower A arm. I can't fit a socket in the area because of the (CV boot?). I could probably use a crescent wrench to remove it but how would I put it back on? I assume this is a bolt that needs to be torqued to some specification. At the other end of the nut there is a smooth black surface. Can I pry this off to get at the other side? I admit I tried but not too hard.

That's your balljoint stud nut. Don't try to pry off the smooth cap with anything; it will ruin the joint. See if you can't get the upper joint loose first and lean the knuckle out until you can remove the axle. The knuckle is the part with the caliper bolted to it. Should be a piece of cake to remove the nut then. Or, use a box end wrench to remove the nut and then rap the side of the knuckle with a non-marring hammer. This will loosen the stud in the the tapered hole in the knuckle and it can then be removed from the knuckle (Same process for the other ball joint stud). Reinstall by inserting the stud back into the knuckle. Start the nut when the threads are just protruding through the knuckle. Then push the stud in until it is seated as tight as you can get it. Tighten the nut at that point. If you try to pull the stud through by tightening the nut the stud may spin in the ball joint. Torque? Yes, but the axle will have to be out of the way to get a torque wrench on the nut. Work the angle of getting the upper ball joint loose first.
