2001 LS6 Engine . I'm old school small block and now getting into LS motors. I unknowingly removed the coil brackets from the valve covers not knowing they were side specific. How can I identify which side they go back on? Any help would be appreciated.

the coil control wire is different for each coil plug... lay the harnesses out and look for the wires that don't match across all the plugs and here's the cylinder layout:
1- purple
3- light blue
5- dark green
7- red
2- red/white
4- dark green/white
6- light blue/white
8- purple/white
so the driver side bank is solid and passenger bank has a white stripe and on the driver side bank the plug with the purple wire will facing the front of the engine and on the passenger side the plug with the red/white wire will be facing the front so as long as you didn't disassemble the harnesses they should all line up once you get the orientation right
Thank you. I never removed the coils or the harness from the bracket. I removed the whole assembly from the valve covers. I'll be in the shop in the morning and set them up again. Your help is much appreciated.
The wires are laid out just the way you have them listed above but without the stripes. I spoke to SpearTech and they said the same as you but no stripes. He said GM just flipped the harness. Thanks again for all your help. It is much appreciated.

ok well just ignore the stripes and make sure they are in the correct order and plug them up, if it runs fine you're good and if it misfires switch them
