Lifter replacement estimates

Ballpark figure for replacing lifters on 99 base 350

$500 for parts, $1000 for labor, the heads have to come off, in addition to the lifters, you'll need lifter trays, gasket set, new head bolts

question is why do lifters need to be replaced? If rollers have worn there is a good chance cam is bad too.

very noisy, my concern was greater damage. I will mention the cam question to my mechanic.

If you have no broken valve springs try running some 10/30 dino oil. Bet after 1 change they quiet down a lot.
mine used to be so loud people in the parking lot would point as the walked by lol

May I ask, what is "dino" oil?
