Hi all, at times, the signal lights do not work on my 01 convertible when I turn the lever for left or right. Other times, they work just fine. However, there is no trouble with the emergency flashers, at all. Could this be a faulty flasher even though the emergency flashers work just fine? Thanks.
If it were only one side, then it would probably be the multifunction switch (MFS).
When the problem is affecting both sides, then it's probably the Hazard Switch going bad. In a C5 the turn signal and hazard functions are provided by the hazard switch.
You can replace the hazard switch, but a Hyperflash Harness should fix your problem and is easier to install. As an added bonus, it will allow you to install LEDs in the future with no hyperflashing.
A hyperflash harness replaces the portion of the hazard switch that handles the turn signals with a flasher that's LED friendly. Hazards will still hyperflash because that function remains untouched in the OEM hazard switch.
Checkthis one out. It's completely plug-and-play: no splicing or anything.
GCG - I'm confused about your statement "Hazards will still hyperflash…" I have the hyperflash harness and LED's on all four corners. My turn signals and hazards NEVER hyperflash.

Normally hyperflash happens when the Hazzard/Turn-Signal OEM incandescent bulbs are replaced by LED bulbs. The reason why is because LED bulbs draw much less current than incandescent bulbs and that is interpreted as a blown filament. Hyperflash is a warning to let the driver know a bulb needs to be replaced.
Installing a hyperflash harness only replaces the portion of the hazard switch that handles the turn signals with a flasher that's LED friendly. Hazards will continue to use the OEM flasher inside the hazard switch, therefore if they were hyperflashing before installing the new harness, they should continue hyperflashing.
In your case, 2 possible explanations could be that your LED bulbs are drawing just enough current to be above the threshold for hyperflashing when you engage the hazards, or perhaps they have built-in shunt resistors like the Halo tail lights (the aluminum block on their back cover):
I have also seen people installing shunt resistors and later on adding a hyperflash harness without removing the resistors. That would also explain it.
Yes, my tail lights have resistors like the ones in the picture. I installed them first. The turn signals would sometimes hyperflash, but not the hazards. It seemed to happen when the system voltage fell below 14. When I installed new front corner housings and LEDs, the hyperflashing was terrible. The fronts have no load resistors. After I installed the hyperflash harness, the turn signals and hazards work perfectly.

So that explains it! The shunt resistors in your tail lights draw just enough current to be above the threshold for hyperflashing when you engage the hazards
