USB ports

I’m looking for something to put in place of cig lighter outlet. Like a double usb outlet.

there are several aftermarket modules on ebay that can be wired in and give you the 5v you want. Many have the usb you want for phone charging. check ebay for dash cam power modules. That’s where i got mine. you can splice into the console lighter circuit

Your best bet would be to just put in a 12v dual usb charger. They have some pretty low profile ones that should fit in there fine. I've wasted money on cheapy ones before, I recommend getting a good name quality brand to make sure it charges devices quickly. I only use Anker these days.

I put one like this in the console. Took the negative wire out of the connector and they plugged right onto it.

USB Charger

The console is constant power so you want something without any lights on it.

I didn't have anything to plug that into.

Either way, it would still need to have no lights for the console. The lighter is switched, so that location could be lit.

Ahhh, gotcha.

Does anyone know how to make the cigarette lighter in the ashtray area HOT all the time (instead of 'switched' power)?

Shoot, you are right. I'm a lot of help in this thread.

I was thinking the opposite because I had a FM modulator plugged into mine and wondering if I could make it 'switched' power for the modulator and/or dash cam.
