Default Oil question

I am pulling my engine. I’ve been under the car many times and have failed to follow a few obvious non oem lines . It appears my car has an Aux oil cooler, cool, but what I don’t understand is ,is this a logical place for the previous owner to tap ? Right into pan rather than somewhere else ? The car has a lot ,and I mean substantially a lot of work done by previous owner . Nothing went untouched so I am curious if this Tap into the pan is proper and if it’s location has anything to do with oil pressure under operating temps. Also,I noticed this black canister with the same type of lines the oil cooler has . Can someone explain the cans purpose ?

There's all sorts of stuff I don't recognize there. And with the auxiliary tank added to the rear of the oil pan, at least I think it's to the rear, that seems pointless unless there's a pump to get the oil back out when you need it. All I can figure is a reservoir but that seems kind of stupid really. You'd be farther ahead to increase the size of the Batwing pan.

I did discover that the canister has a positive wire and a ground wire connected at the very bottom

the aux cooler sits up front by the rad. The steel braided lines from the cooler lead to this and then into the pan

Electro-magnet for keeping metal out of the oil?

Wouldn't help in my car. The biggest issues there are Ti, which ain't ferrous.

My guess would be an independent oil cooler with its own pump. Where does the piping start and end, should be in a loop.

there are steel braided lines on each side of the pan . Appears to start on the right side of the pan, goes to the cooler , cooler to the “ pump “, pump back in the pain ( 90* elbow fitting )
