Check how you are routing the line to the quick connect. Also make sure the the lower line exiting the bell housing is pointed forward.

Mark.

This tool will have it together in a single squeeze. They are made by various tool makers.

You can do it by hand but good luck.

Hmmm, I think something must be wrong. I have done it twice, most recently back in spring of 2019 on my C5 and I do not remember there being any issues connecting the line from the clutch master to the slave with just my hands. Was it particularly hard to disconnect from the old slave cylinder? Are can you inspect if closely to make sure it is 100% clean on both parts. New or existing master cylinder?

Its a brand new oem master cylinder, it just doesn’t want to lock in place, very frustrating.

This is maybe a dumb question but do you have the lid off the clutch reservoir so the fluid can flow into it with no resistance as you push the two hoses together?

The o-ring can bind up if it's dry. Try coating both the male and female fittings with clean brake fluid first, and I'll bet they'll click home easily.

Bleed the pressure off first.. If there is pressure behind any QC style connector, it will make it very difficult to engage

I got the lines connected, but I want to know if I got them connected right, the clutch is engaging like it should, there is some play with the connection but won’t pull apart, is it safe to say that it will be fine? Thanks

If you are saying you can push them together just a bit more and they spring back to the stopping point that is totally normal.

It's the design of the retention mechanism in the hydraulic push fitting. Inside it is essentially spring loaded which keeps it positively engaged against the stop / teeth. I have a slave laying in the garage I can photo that would probably show what I am trying to explain a little better.

Dear Toy 4 life:
I did clean the connection with brake cleaner fluid. The original popped out pretty easily. I don't think and hope I did not damage it.

WD-40 in the QD fitting did it for me. Same with getting the fuel lines off and on the filter and manifold. Those plastic connectors are a biotch to use when dry. One shot and they behave.
