I'm lowered with Bilsteins and am a little disappointed in the harshness of the ride. I'd like to stay lowered so has anyone upgraded their springs to soften up the ride? Vette Brakes has "Sport" and "Xtreme" springs anyone tried these?
Re: Anyone upgraded their leaf springs? (Umrswimr)
Z51...right now i feel if i'm all shocks with no spring.
I just want to know if any aftermarket springs will soften up the harshness on lowered cars due to the lesser preload on the spring....anyone??
A spring with a stiffer spring rate at the lesser preload might be the ticket. i think your base springs might make it worse.
Regardless of "preload" due to lowering; the only way you're going to soften your ride is to go to a spring with a lower spring constant. The only spring with a lower spring constant for a z51 equipped car is the stock suspension spring.
Re: Anyone upgraded their leaf springs? (UtahVince)
just got finished talking to Brian at Vette Brakes and he said when you lower you do not affect the preload at all..... just the relative distance between the spring and the A-arm.
He said my problem is I'm hitting the bump stops of the Bilsteins...
well I only cut one bushing in the front and used longer bolts in the back...i've about 1" clear between tire and fenders. so am I normal to see bump stop with this setup or am I too low for the Bilsteins?? :cry
