Default Rotor Fit

I just received my new rotors however when I slip them on the front ones are somewhat loose. The rear rotors fit snug. I was just wondering if this is something that's "OK"? My guess is no but I felt like it would be wise to put it out there for you guys. Thanks Scott

did you happen to notice the rear rotors are different than the fronts?? Did you see the monoshoe.. fits inside the rotor drum on the rears..? Its going to be snug and should actually be tight going on.. Did you ever change rotors before?
You really should not be doing brakes and rotors if you do not know what is correct. Its ok to do this job for the first time but you should have someone hold your hand the first time, and not solicit help with this job on the internet.

Are you in a bad mood? Such negativity, I'm just asking a simple question. You're welcome not to answer. Maybe someone else on here doesn't mind chiming in.

Yes its OK the fronts are somewhat loose. If you notice, the lug nuts have a taper to them close to the hub. When you bolt the wheel on it presses the rotor in and centers it at the same time. Its normal.

The thing is I've replaced rotors BEFORE and it's the first time I've seen one that actually "slips" away on the bottom. It will not stay seated up to the hub. I'm going to send them back. I don't feel comfortable with these.

Ignore the haters and rude posts. We are all here to try and help each other on this forum. Do a YouTube search. There are a couple videos of how to’s on replacing rotors. These could give you a sense of fitment. Also, are you using oem rotors? I assume when you get the caliper bracket on and the two bolts torqued down to 125 foot pounds there won’t be any movement.

Thanks for that. The stock ones are tight. These are after market but of course claim to have OEM fitment. I'm just used to rotors being snug on the hub. The front ones literally slip down off the hub. I'm posting a picture right now...

Can you see how it sits loose and at an angle?

Based on what I’ve seen during replacement on my car, this is normal. Many recommend putting one lug on so the rotor doesn’t slip off and break your foot while you install the caliper brackets. Haha. check out jamaal and my corvette life on YouTube. Both have rotor install videos and it seems that their rotors were pretty loose.

But there may be some truth to old grumpy grumps up above. Contact a tech to double check because brakes are kind of important. Lol.

take one of your lug nuts and temporarily put it on one stud to hold the rotor tight against the hub. No biggie. the factory put a little keeper to hold the rotor, but ppl bust them and toss them first brake job.

Piece of cheese man...just wanted to make SURE. Like you said these are ONLY brakes right? lol! I'm almost finished everything has gone smoothly. Except for when "somehow" I ended up missing one of my lug nuts. Funny how those little parts can "disappear" on these jobs. It was cheaper to order a brand new set rather than one lug (relatively speaking anyway)

also, was your e-brake on when you did the rears. That will make the install of the rear rotors fit much much tighter.

No fortunately I read up ALOT about the dreaded ebrake. It was snug. I ended up just replacing the both ebrake pads. Mine had cracked a little and then a small pieced fell off so I just decided to replace them. That spring is really hard to put back in the drum. I finally found a way to secure it, literally made it a "snap" tie to get in. lol!

That is normal. I just installed a set of Brakemotive rotors and pads last summer and they fit the same way. No problems since I installed them.
