I have been noticing for the last 3 months or so that when I start my 99FRC after it has sat for a few days the odometer shows up and stays until I scroll through to a blank DIC. It only does it on the first start and if I drive it every day it doesn't happen. I thought it might be the battery but a load test showed it was fine. Any ideas?

You can be on the right track that it is the battery. When my car sits for a period of time it does the same as yours. I don’t think the battery is bad just low voltage.

If the battery voltage falls below a certain threshold during the crank cycle, the displays, including HUD will go back to default display (odometer).
This behavior, plus the other symptoms you mentioned, point to a battery that is not fully charged or that is beginning to fail. If you load-tested it and it passed, check your connections in the alternator-starter-battery chain. The connections at the starter solenoid are a known point of failure and could be preventing your battery from properly charging.
Yup, my 6-year-old battery did exactly all those things this morning after sitting 3-4 days and the temp hitting 30 degrees.
Might as well start looking for a good AGM battery. don't even think about a std liquid acid battery; I went through the acid
leak nightmare, and you don't wanta go there!

I did finally replace my battery a while back and the issue went away. I got a Champion AGM at Pep Boys. So far I like it. I went back and got another one for my truck.
