I recently dynoed my car after I did my trans.
I put in 3.42 gears and a 2400 pro torque.
Noticed power loss on the dyno but the car definitely
feels stronger. I also heard the higher the stall the more power
an auto car will suffer on the dyno. Anybody have any clues?
Thanks! Jimmy O

Re: Does a torque converters stall affect rear HP (Jimmy O)
What I understand (which isn't much) is that HP is a factor of the converter's efficiency - which is not directly tied to stall, but is somewhat related. For example, the SY3500 is very efficient, and ST3500 is less so. Yank's website has some info and comparison charts on this.
Re: Does a torque converters stall affect rear HP (Jimmy O)
You mentioned that you also put in 3.42 gears. If you previously had 2.73s or 3.15s, your car will have a lower dyno reading with the 3.42 gears. I have 3.73s in my car and it will dyno lower than if I had 3.42s.

I have the PT2400/3.42 combo right now. I am pulling 334 RWHP on a stock motor, but I don't have a "before" dyno. If you're wondering what times you can pull at the track, see my sig :D

You will notice a drop in hp in conjunction with a high stall converter. Going from 3.42's and a PT-2400 to the 3.73's and the ST-3500 I lost 10hp from mylast dyno.
