Default Weird electrical issue

This is a 1999 FRC. I just removed the knee panel beneath the steering wheel , and the plastic shield that houses the foot lamp at the clutch pedal. This was done in prep for installing an Auto blip unit.

I then removed the ash tray from the center console, and fed the cabling for the Auto blip into the console, and over to the pedals area. The Auto blip controller is now Sitting loose where the ash tray sat. That’s all I did; no wiring connections were yet done.

in order to remove the knee panel, the remote switch to open the trunk has been removed.

I left the rest of the installation for tomorrow. As I shut down the garage, I noticed a faint light coming from the dash of the car. It was the glovebox lamp; it was on even though the glovebox door was closed. All other doors and lights were off.

The plunger switch in the glovebox works, but closing the glovebox door apparently doesn’t shove the plunger deeply enough into the switch now.

This has to be a new issue, otherwise my battery would be dead. Right?

This makes no sense. I didn’t loosen the dash or even work on the passenger side of it. Might I have pulled a wire on the glovebox switch as I fished the Auto blip cable through the console into the driver side footwell?

comments please.

Probably a coincidence, you probably had a parasite drain going on. I had a similar issue and used a small piece of velcro to build up that plunger contact area
