Cold rear diff drops fluid at startup ONLY
Hi all, I have an interesting phenomenon going on; When I start up my 2000 A4 base convertible in cold temps (35-45 degrees), I get several drops of rear differential fluid spilled onto my garage floor. It's like the system is expelling air or something. It is not a constant leak, and it does NOT happen in the summertime heat. Does anyone have any insights into this? I'm only concerned that I may end up running low on differential fluid;

Take a look near the vent tube - there could be intermittent leakage there if the vent begins to fail. This thread has a bit of info in it.
