Default 2004 C5 odd steering input

I am trying to work out some bugs in my deceased father's C5 that has been neglected by other family members.

One issue I am having a very hard time even figuring out where to start is the steering. To begin with it feels fairly "stiff" but the wheel still turns freely if that makes any sense...the other issue is at times when turning it gives an odd input to the wheel almost like it is slightly pushing back. To make the situation even more frustrating is when going straight the wheel is perfectly still and centered.

The only thing I have found that might contribute is that whoever mounted the tires mounted them rotating the wrong direction....but not sure if that would cause an issue or not.

Start by remounting tires properly. Are you aware front and rear tires are different sizes. Stock front tires are 245/45R17. Rear tires are 275/40R18.
Good luck!

Yeah I know a decent amount about cars, unfortunately my mother and brother do not and did not fix issues as they occurred so now I am picking up the pieces. LOL

For now I will try to swap the fronts side to side so the rotation is correct and see if that helps..not sure I can get a jack under this low sucker though. LOL

The C5 uses something called Magansteer. Here is some good info on it:

Have you driven this car before and the steering feels different? The tires on these cars are wide and low profile. They will definitely provide different feedback compared to other cars. Wider tires prefer a straight line. Maybe test drive another C5. Also check fluids and codes as previously suggested.

Yeah I have driven the car many times in the past....I honestly cannot recall if the stiffness is same or different, but for sure the weird inputs I am feeling is different without a doubt.

I put pieces of 2 x 6 boards in front of each tire Then drive up on them. That gives the clearance to get a jack under it.
