do not waste your money on the spring to lift the trunk lid, just get new gas struts they were only 13.00 for two, took 5 minutes to install and the trunk pops right up now about 2"

I bought shocks for tonneau and trunk off ebay. It did take longer than 5 minutes but after I figured out the first one the other three were a breeze.
Total cost about $25
New struts helped mine or so I thought. After a few weeks it still pops better but didn't make it pop high enough to get a finger under. So I added some springs and now its good.
Here is a vid I made prior to the springs..
The springs should not be needed. They weren't needed from the factory so something has changed or shifted.
Here's what helped me:
- New shocks, get a reputable brand or warrantied item through a local store. The difference of 5 Lbs in lift between shock brands or old shocks can cause this
- Clean all of the tonneau or hatch weather strips on the bottom and top to prevent sticking. Also clean everything including the plastics on the tonneau lid or hatch
- Clean and slightly lubricate the upper and lower tonneau or hatch ring plates and locking mechanisms
