Congrads on the new ride. If you are not aware of the maintenance history of vehicle twist an arm at your local dealer and have him pull up the computer history. It will give you an idea of the past repairs and milage along with any recalls missed. I have had my 99 for 1 1/2 and lovin every minute of it.
I've had my '99 since new. Trust me. You'll love this car! Life of the brakes depend soley on how the car was driven. At 38,000, you better check them out. If the plugs are original, it's time for new ones and new wires. If the battery is the original Delco, I would consider replacing it with an Optima. The original batteries had a tendency to leak, and take out the computer underneath it. Bad news if this happens! Enjoy your new ride.

If you don't have a maintenace record dump all the fluids, engine, tranny, rear, brake, and coolent may be due now too. Brakes are easy to check just pull the wheels. Check tire wear for alignment if required. Check tire pressures. enjoy it's the best year made :D

Plus I would get rid of the Delco battery, they leak. Do the plugs and wires, get a good intake, a nice cat-back system.....oooppppps, getting carried away.
Change oil and filter (Mobil 1 Synthetic 5/30 is factory recommended)
Be very careful with oil drain plug (pan is aluminum)
Replace spark plugs.
Check fluids: Coolant, Trans, Diff, Power Steering, Brake, Clutch.
Check Air Filter
Check Brake and Tire wear.
Check Serp Belt.
Enjoy the ride!!! :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod:
PS Be very careful of the forum...its addictive and can lead to a light wallet.
Congrats on the 99, got mine about 3 months ago and still have the same smile on my face that you probably have now.
Here is what I did
Oil Change (Mobile 1)
Change Fluids (Dif, Tranny, Steering, Coolant)
Replaced the Air filter with K&N replacement (will get a Blackwing soon)
Look at your battery and if it is the stock one, pull it out and put something else in, the consensus here is the AC Delco AGM (glass mat) or one of the Optima batteries. The reason for this is that the stock batteries will develop a leak around the positive terminal and cause mass damage to the PCM located directly under the battery.
I just had all 4 rotors turned and the front pads replaced at 28K, cost me $250 at my GM dealer
Check with the dealer and see if the column lock recall has been performed on your car. If it’s an automatic its really easy to check, with the car off and the key out of the ignition, try to turn the steering wheel, if it turns your golden. If it does not then you may want to get the recall performed or by the bypass kit from the forum mall. If you have a MN6, I’m not too sure how to check to see if the recall has been performed.
Other than that, if you are planning on spending any time here at the forum (and I think you will :yesnod: ), pick up some Zaino and a Blackwing, they seem to be requirements :jester
