I do not feel they add anything other than skewing your PCM's interpretation of how much air is coming into the engine and then causing improper air/fuel decisions.
On a second note, I have a set of the BPP Air Foil Nylon MAF ends sitting in my garage if you want a good deal on them!
I hear they help by increasing airflow and leaning the car out for more HP,
also I have some ported nylon MAF ends for sale and a MAT sensor all for $65 plus shipping
thanks
Re: MAF Ends, Do they reallyhelp? (99 torch red vette)
Consider them sold. Email me at supervetteracer@cs.com and tell me the best way to pay you etc..
BTW: Why you, did you want to get rid of them?

Hi: I fooled around with MAF ends, and a GMS ported MAF too. Car ran best with stock MAF, no screen, and a mild clean-up (Porting/Polishing of the stock unit). JMHO :) :) :)

I took out the screen and cut the air foils out then carefully blended the step left where the screen was. Ran the car for PCM relearn and did a scan. LTRIM's were lean. Had to correct by 9% with LS1 Edit to get the curve back where I wanted it. After another relearn, car runs great with NO problems.
If you have a hacksaw and some sandpaper, you can port and polish your own MAF ends. It's much cheaper that way! I did it with mine. Best tool you could ever have for this job is an air dye. If you have an air compressor get yourself one of these! $50.00 and it grinds down all kinds of metals. Saves lots of time and energy as opposed to sanding down what you can't cut with the hacksaw.
